Connect me – Phase 3

Our Journey starts within

The connections we make on a daily basis with others is phenomenal, from the glance at a stranger in the street, to the social media check as we open our eyes from a nights sleep. 

Do our connections really make a difference to our health and wellbeing or are we overreacting when we believe we are ‘what we eat’? 

If we are ‘what we eat’ then I believe we are also ‘what we think’?

And…

If we are what we think then I also believe we are what we feel?

We make connections on a daily basis, some of the areas which I believe control our behaviours, actions and how we feel about ourselves come from the different interactions we make on the inside and the ones we send and receive on the outside. Our mind processes information it receives through our senses. It also processes information it creates within itself from our memories and experiences. Our body processes information it receives from our minds and the environment. 

Let’s explore this a little more because there are many ways that we connect without realising the impact it has on our lives.

Our inner mind connections – thoughts

  • Time: Past, Present & Future
  • States of mind: Loving, mental, emotional, Waking, Sleeping
  • Noise vs Stillness
  • Messages – Positive: You can… You deserve… You will…
  • Messages – Negative: You can’t… You don’t deserve… You won’t…

Our outer mind connections – information received

  • Parents or Parental responsibility: Child rearing/Domestication/Rites of Passage, Social services & Care providers
  • People in our lives
  • Addictions: Drama, Alcohol, Drugs (legal & illegal) & Sex
  • Politics
  • Education: School, College, University, Apprenticeship, etc
  • Employment: Employed, Self employed or Unemployed
  • Media: Advertising, TV, Radio, Internet, Social media, Apps & Gaming consoles (off & online)
  • Law: Police, Prison system, Probation & Immigration
  • Therapy, Counselling & Coaching

Our outer body connections – how we treat our bodies

  • Exercise & fitness
  • Health – Positive: Regular exercise, healthy eating, weight control, Disability and living with pain
  • Food & Drink
  • Dietary intake
  • Relaxation: Breathing, Mindfulness practice, Yoga, Tai chi, Aikido, Wellness Spa or Leisure centre: Sauna, Steam, Jacuzzi, Massage and complimentary therapies
